IX. Dance Caribe Performing Company Biography
12th Annual Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festival
Dance Caribe Performing Company (DCPC) has organized the 12th Annual Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festival (CJFDF) to continually give an opportunity to children and youths as upcoming dancers of this unique art form a place to showcase their talents. In keeping with DCPC’s mission statement of “Preserving through dance, the cultural diversity of the Caribbean’’ DCPC is proud to showcase the young talent within the Caribbean and the Canadian dance community. The main purpose of this dance festival is to promote folklore dance from the Caribbean and any other dances.
DCPC’s Artist Director, Martin Scott-Pascall, has worked within the Toronto and Montreal’s artistic community for over two decades exploring and sharing his talents with clients, peers, and students alike. It is due to this interaction within, and outside of the Caribbean community, that DCPC offers this venture for the benefit of the youth of the Caribbean community. It is the hope that this annual event will provide yet another positive outlet for the talents that spring naturally from the Caribbean community. It will also allow a non-Caribbean audience to experience dance, which is indigenous to the Caribbean yet, global in its flavor and history.
