A former Director, choreographer, Performer, Costumes Designer and Leader in the Prime Minster Best Village Competition with the Erin Adult Class, Santa Flora, Siparia, Los Bajos, and Morne Diable Folk Performers, Martin received numerous awards for his works in the Arts in Trinidad & Tobago for many years.
Scott-Pascall studied dance and theatre at The University of The West Indies Trinidad & Tobago, Concordia University, Montreal and at the University of Toronto. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, a Teacher and Fitness & Nutrition Diplomas and a certificate in Artist in Education from York University. He has over 25 years experience in performance arts. Martin was the Artistic Director/Choreographer for the Ontario Pavilion at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic. He has received numerous awards for his work the 2004 Canada Black Business & Professional Association (BBPA) Harry Jerome Awards for the Arts Industry and was presented with the Canadian Black Cultural Achievement Award for his excellent contribution to the Arts (DANCE) 2002, the Trinidad & Tobago Republic Day Dance Arts Award in Toronto Canada 2000 and was Canada 2001 Chin International Folklore Dance Champion.
In 1989, Martin founded Dance Caribe Performing Company (DCPC) as a testament to his love for the Caribbean dance artistic aesthetic and is the core and centrifugal force of the company. Martin has created, by forming DCPC, the ideal vehicle for showcasing his many talents for choreography, directing, acting, and dancing and also costume design. Another important byproduct of the formation of DCPC is the opportunity he has created for others to learn more about and to experience the Caribbean artistic aesthetic.
Martin has directed and choreographed all of DCPC's major productions including "Ah Taste of Best Village" (1991), "Veni Zante" (I996), "Dance Baghai" (I998), "Ambakaila" (2000), "Remorse in de Gayal" (2002) Koombana Suite (2005), Danse Du Sol (2006), their Caribbean tours in Dominica and Trinidad & Tobago (2007), it's Schools tour "From De Soil" (2004) and also their two Dinner Theatre Productions "Rhythm Freedom for Black History month and Veni Tay-Lay-Lay in the fall (2008), and their Twentieth Anniversary Production a World Premiere “Sayamanda” October (2009) at the National Ballet School, the Betty Oliphant Theatre in Toronto.
Martin is the founding director of the DC Youth Performing Arts, and is the resident Choreographer for the (Club Carib) Hummingbird Dancers of Oshawa, and also the Choreographer for the International Multicultural Fiesta Dancers of Oshawa.
Martin Scott-Pascall is also a costume designer and Choreographer for Toronto Annual Caribana Festival and is no stranger to Winner's Row, Placing second in Toronto Caribana King Competition four (4) times and won Male Individual of the Year three (3) times from 1990 to 2009. He won first place in New York Carnival King Competition, People's Choice Award and Male Individual of the Year 2001, and also Carnival King of Boston USA 2002 & 2003, Montreal Male Individual of the Year 2004 and as well in Ottawa, Windsor and Trinidad. Martin has directed and choreographed and contributed to the many of Toronto's and Montréal’s premiere companies in dance and theatre companies productions both on stage and film industry. Martin works extending in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, Venezuela, USA and the Caribbean to name a few for different Festival of the Arts. Martin was the Artistic Director and Choreographer for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic for the Ontario Pavilion Team
Martin worked as the Internal/External Officer of Miss Canada Globe Production and worked with many Canadian Pageants as a judge and choreographer for the Miss Globe, Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Trinidad & Tobago, and Miss Queen of the Islands Canada to name a few. Martin is a Board Director with the Caribana Arts Group and works as a dance teacher for the past 15 years with the Toronto District School Board.

GILLIAN ALLEYNE was born in Canada of Dominican background and has been a member of Dance Caribe for ten years a Senior Core dancer for the past five. She joined DCPC as a junior dancer and graduated to take part in several major productions such as Ambakaila (2000), Remorse in De Gayal (2002) and Danse Du Sol (2007).
In 2002, she was the winner of the Junior Carnival Queen Competition in Canadas Caribana Festival. She is well advanced in various dance styles such as Ballet, Tap and Urban Jazz, Modern Contemporary and Afro-Caribbean.
As an Alumni Graduate of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technologys Court and Tribunal Agent Diploma Program, she currently works as a Court Clerk for the Ontario Court of Justice of Canada. Gillian is proud and honored to be a part of SAYAMANDA , and looks forward to participating in future productions.
JUSTIN PHILLS has been a member of DCPC since 1995. He was the winner of Most Outstanding Individual in 1997 and Most Outstanding Male Performer from 1998 to 2000 in the Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festival.
He graduated from McGill University in 2005 with a B.A. in International Development Studies and minors in Economics and French Language & Literature. In 2004, he was awarded a Scarlet Key for student leadership at McGill University. Justin completed a Graduate Certificate in International Project Management from Humber College in 2006 and in 2009 graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in International Management from Centenary College. He currently works for Toyota Credit Canada Inc.
Justin thoroughly enjoys participating in community initiatives and events relating to Caribbean culture.
KERRY-ANN WRIGHT was born in Mandeville, Jamaica.
She has currently held the “Most Outstanding Individual” and “Most Outstanding Female Performer Under 21” titles for the past 3 years, within the Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festival, representing the Hummingbird Dancers of Oshawa.
She has taken home awards for best soloist and best duet in the under 21 category and hopes to continue achieving her titles in the future.
She attended York University as a Dance Major in hopes of pursuing dance as a career, and is proud to be here, representing Canada, in her third major DCPC production to date.
MARSHA WILLIAMS has become a very influential member in the entertainment industry in Toronto.
She began dancing at the tender age of 4 at the Joanna Chapman School of Dancing and has been doing so for 14 years. She has also been a very active member of DCPC for the past 6 years.
She is a graduate of Humber College Industrial Design, Ryerson University Production Design and the Art Institute of Chicago for Computer Animation.
She is currently working as a member of ACTRA and the Directors Guild of Canada as an Assistant Art Director on Motion Pictures and TV.
KRYSTAL WILSON At 22 years old, this young woman has accomplished a lot!
Born in Kingston Jamaica and raised with an immense passion for the arts, Krystal has been dancing since age 5 in all genres. Also a singer/songwriter whose hobbies include athletics and modelling, Krystal has excelled in her endeavors and is currently completing her Cognitive Science Honors BA at York University.
What many do not know about her is that in 2007 Krystal was crowned Miss Canada Globe 07-08 after competing in a regional and national pageant. She went on to compete in the Miss Globe International Pageant held in Albania last October, where she became the first Canadian as well as the first African American to place in the top five for this pageant!
This is Krystal's third major production with Dance Caribe Performing Company and looks forward to many more!
TAMLA YOUNG was born in Kingston, Jamaica and has always felt connected to the Caribbean, and a strong need to preserve her Caribbean roots..
She has been dancing with Caribbean Dance Theatre (CDT) since 2001. Prior to joining CDT she danced with Scarborough Caribbean Youth Dance Ensemble (SCYDE).
From a very young age, Tamla has always been involved with and shown a passion for the performing arts.
She graduated from York University with a B.A. Honours in Fine Arts Cultural Studies and recently completed a graduate certificate in Arts Administration and Cultural Management.
SAYAMANDA is her fourth production with Dance Caribe and she is enjoying every moment of it!
NATASHA Washington began dancing at age 9 with the Hummingbird Dancers of Oshawa where she enjoyed 11 years showcasing the diversity of the Caribbean through dance.
As Hummingbirds Principal Dancer, she was recognized with several awards including Most Outstanding Female Performer at the Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance festival in 1997, 1998 and 1999, as well as Most Outstanding Individual in 1999.
Natasha made her DCPC debut in the 2000 production of Ambakaila after which she took a 5 year hiatus from dance to pursue her educational and career goals.
She has since attained a diploma in Digital Media Design and is currently the Co-Founder and Lead Designer of Dreamscape Interactive New Media Design.
Natasha made her return to the art form in Koombana Suite in 2005.
ANGELA CAMPBELL began studying jazz and ballet at a young age and danced competitively with Theatre Dance Academy before joining the Hummingbird Dancers at age 13.
As a member for 7 years, Angela participated in the Caribbean Junior Folklore Festival and performed at various sporting and multicultural events throughout Ontario.
She was also a participant in both the Miss Universe Canada pageant and Miss World Canada regional competition. She has always loved dance and enjoys the challenge and cultural knowledge gained from studying various forms of dance.
Angela possesses a BA in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is currently working as an Addiction Counsellor.
Angela joined Dance Caribe in January 2007 and was happy to make her production debut Danse de Sol.
SEMICA PASCAL currently 20 years of age was born in St. Georges, Grenada and at the age of 5 moved to Canada.
At age 5 Semica began dancing ballet and character at Jennifer Morton School of Dance. Also she has a very athletic background. Since age 7 Semica has excelled and won awards in various competitive team sports. Throughout High School Semica took the Dance course that was offered in order to experience the various genres of dance and was also a member of the school's dance team. After graduating High School with honors, Semica is currently attending Humber College. This is her final year of the three year Child and Youth Worker Program.
In addition, in 2007 Semica competed in her first pageant; Miss Queen of the Islands Canada where she placed as a top 8 finalist. Later that year she competed in the Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant placing as the 1st Runner-Up. Also in the Summer of 2008 she competed in the Miss Canada Globe National Pageant where she became the 1st Runner-Up and was also crowned as Miss Tourism Canada 2009. This past Summer Semica travelled to Greece, where she competed in the Miss Tourism Planet Pageant. Proudly she is the first Canadian as well as first African American to place in the top three finalist for this pageant!
As the newest member of Dance Caribe Performing Company this is Semica's first production and she is very excited for this one and others to come!
STACY-ANN VASSELL-WHITELEY born in Kingston, Jamaica where she first was intrigued by dance.
She joined Dance Caribe in 1997 and has since performed in “Danse Bagai” (1998), “Ambakaila” (2000) and “Remorse in De Gayal” (2002). Stacy is an alumni member of Dance Caribe who lends her support to the team whenever and wherever.
In 2005 Stacy acted as the rehearsal director and stage manager for DCPC’s 15th Anniversary production of “Koombana Suite”. Stacy’s education lies in the Building Sciences of Architecture which has helped to equip her in the areas of costume design and set design.
Stacy is the artistic director of the Elite Dance Company Inc., a contemporary Christian dance company that focuses on children and youth dancers in Toronto, Canada. After a long hiatus from dance, Stacy joined Nutifafa African Dance Ensemble in 2006 where she is trained in West African Dance under the direction of Dr. Modesto Amegago a very talented professor.
She later toured the Caribbean with DCPC for “Dance Du Sol” in 2007. Stacy is blessed to be a part of Dance Caribes twenty year history.
ALISA LEWIS, born in Canada of Trinidadian decent, has always taken pride in her cultural background. She began dancing at the age of 4 years with the Scarborough Caribbean Youth Dance Ensemble. She later became a member of DCPC Junior Performing Company during her teenage years, partaking in many Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festivals and Productions. After graduating from high school, Alisa went on to pursue a B.A. in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario in London; retiring from her dance career with Dance Caribe.
Since then Alisa has completed a Graduate degree in Social Work and is working as a professional with children and families. While undergoing her studies, she continued to show her love of dance by occasionally performing with DCPC and performing some of her own choreography for cultural shows and weddings.
In addition to Alisa’s dancing career, she has served as Master of Ceremonies for the Junior Carnival parade competitions during a number of Caribana seasons.
Alisa is privileged to be returning to DCPC to perform in the “SAYAMANDA” production and to celebrate their 20th Anniversary in keeping the culture of Caribbean folk dance alive in the community.
